Dearest Baby Rhyan: Letter #2

My Dearest Baby Rhyan,
Mommy and Daddy are tired. This past week you had your 9 month check up and the doctor told us that we had to stop your night feeding (which should have been dropped but we were too lazy to work at it lol). Boy why did she ever tell us that? She simply said that she has to cry it out. I was sort of skeptical about just letting you cry by yourself, but I knew it had to be done. So I took to Google, and read about other mom's that went through the same thing and how they got through it. After reading about a million stories I came to the conclusion that I had to make up a routine that was for me. I needed to be able to handle hearing you cry without being tempted to come soothe you.

Here is the routine that your father and I came up with that is working pretty well I must say. You usually wake around 12:30am and cry because there is no bottle around for you to grab. I'll come to you and pat your back and rub your head for a minute tops. Most times you are not trying to have it. You push my hands away and continue to scream. Once my minute is up I then leave the room and if you are still crying after three minutes I return and repeat the soothing. I'll leave again, but this time for five minutes. If you are still crying I'll repeat the cycle and increase the wait time by two minutes every time.

The first night was a bit rough but the following nights have gotten easier or I'm just getting used to the routine lol. I know some people may think that this is cruelty and insane, but what works for some may not work for others. There are even some people that believe that by letting you cry I am damaging your temperament and personality, but you are still the same happy baby with an attitude you have always been. You are getting better without having your bottle in the middle of the night and mommy and daddy can get a little more sleep now. We love you!

The Little Style File: Save the NY Aquarium w/ Torly Kid

As a contributor with The Little Style File I had the privilege of attending an amazing event a few weeks back and boy did we have fun. Take a look:

Saturday was all about the kiddies and boy did we have fun. Baby Rhyan and I set out towards the big city to attend the Save the NY Aquarium Kid's Festival at Torly Kid. It was the highlight of our day and we had fun for a good cause. There were crafts, educational activities, movies, and food.

Hop on over to The Little Style File to read my full post!

Chic Baby: Rhyan is Cool and Comfy

Baby Rhyan says she has style too and she wants to show off. Chic Baby gives her a space to give you a peek into her closet, one outfit at a time.

Baby Rhyan is becoming quite a little fashionista if I must say so myself. She loves getting dressed and you can see it all in her smile. She looked so adorable in her outfit I had to take a million pics and of course I had to let you see.

I'm in love with her fair isle leggings from The Children's Place and denim shirt from Carter's. Here's a little secret: it's from the little boys' section.

She wanted to show you her footwork!

She loves the camera!

Dearest Rhyan: Letter #1

To my dearest baby girl, you are growing so fast and getting smarter with each day. I can already see your determination and courage. As I sit here and write this you are busy trying to pull the dvd's off of the shelf and your dad keeps pulling you back, but you keep going for it (determination & courage). Now really stop it. You are frustrating your daddy.

But that's not what I'm writing you about. I'm writing to tell you what's going on in your life during this very week. Just so that you and the world can see you grow into a beautiful young woman. Well here you are at 8 months standing on your own with the help of anything you can pull up on.

No you do not know how to crawl yet. As a matter of fact you hate crawling. You would rather be standing. I must admit mommy was a little apprehensive at first because I was afraid you were developing slow and being the Google extremist that I am, I believed every word I read on development. LoL!!!! BTW, use it as a guide. Not as a definite answer. Only doctors can give you a correct diagnoses. Any who, but with reassurance from your grandparents I now realize that you are not a late developer, you actually prefer to move a little faster & skip some steps. We anxiously await the day that you take your first step. You are growing so fast & we look forward to seeing every milestone.

Stay happy & joyful as you are. Never change.

-Mommy
